Geoff Gibson the author of A Year Without Beer, shares some details about their life after becoming a new author!
Did you always dream of becoming an author?
Not at all… Funny story though I went and saw a clairvoyant / Reiki master in Bali on my honeymoon, and she said that I would end up coaching people and writing books. I understood the coaching part from my former life of a personal trainer, but the writing thing made me think that these people are all frauds. Turns out she was right. I always think about that conversation
What was your first job?
Picking Fruit and fixing surfboards
How did you come about writing your book? Was that your intention or did you start writing for fun?
I started as an aid to get me off the booze and then it just started from there. The more I wrote the more I enjoyed it. I’m well into my second offering as we speak.
What was your life like before you became an author?
Not as busy. HA
Did you face any struggles before becoming an author? If so, how did you overcome them?
You will have to read AYWB it’s all in there. My life was a little bit different beforehand, let’s put it that way.
Now that you are a published author, how has your life changed, if at all?
There is not a lot of down time and because AYWB is my first book and I’m doing a lot of promotion and interviews to get it out there. Podcasts… I never thought they were a thing until now and I’ve been on 5 now. I still have the old 9 to 5 (offshore mainly) so I look as if I’m in a transitional phase now. Super busy but super disciplined to get the work done. Writing is only half the job for me in my genre all the speaking, media and promotions is the other half. A lot of doors have opened put it that way.
Can you please describe a typical day in your life now?
I’ve been taking some offshore gigs now so I can have the time off in between to write and do all the promotion. When I’m home though. Wake up and get into the morning routine, surf, food preparation, train, potter around the house, write when I’m inspired, Kids school pick ups and commitments, skate park.. been looking after my broken body lately.
I watch a lot of surfing and listen to music a lot as well.
Then Promotional Commitments and public speaking engagements all thrown in.
My days are Booked!
What is your most memorable moment of your life as an author?
The reactions I get from people about AYWB and how that I’m influencing them to make better decisions and get the most out of their lives. Close second to signing my first copy of AYWB
In a few words, how would you review your experience with Pegasus Publishers?
For busy people with a lot of Authors under them I never feel like I’m at the bottom of the pile, (which I am being a first timer HA) Emails are answered. Phone conversations are never rushed and then there is some cool stuff that they propose I do in the community.
That was more than a few words
Why did you choose Pegasus Publishers?
The best offer and other publishers I were talking to just felt a little off.
You can purchase a copy of the book here.
