Five Upcoming Books to Get Excited About - August 2024
Have you been enjoying the warm weather? Whilst nobody in the office has jetted off to a tropical beach, we have all been able to enjoy plenty of sunny weather and lounging outside with our books – when we weren’t watching the Olympics of course!
Now as we near the end of summer, Pegasus Publishers are releasing a new collection of fiction and factual releases, which means you can begin stocking your shelves for the Autumn.
With so many new titles about to drop, here are five books we think should be added to your baskets come publication day:
Thirteen Terrifying Tales by Terry Deary
What better way to blow out the summer heat and get prepared for the spooky season then with Terry Deary’s latest? The beloved children’s author, scribe to over three hundred works across a five-decade career, has chosen us as the home for his creepy and crawly tales – thirteen in total.
Beware young readers! This book might just save your life…
Danger lurks and wickedness thrives in a horror book, designed for kids, but designed to provide just enough of a fright to keep you from getting into trouble. If that’s not enough, the tales offer a little sadness too, with characters you’ll quickly fall in love with, and then quickly regret doing so.
Good luck.
Available in paperback and on the Kindle Store.
Just a Nurse by Toni Caines and Kerry Murphy
From the horrors of Halloween to the horrors of the hospital – an even scarier prospect if you ask us. This memoir asks its readers: where would the world be without nurses? SPOILER ALERT: it’s not a happy answer.
Kerry is a bright-eyed grammar school graduate; Toni is a mature adult nursing student; both categorically deny the simplistic label of “just a nurse.”
First of all, nurses are extremely important, and this book explains just how vital they are. But more importantly, nursing is a varied and wide-ranging career path, diverse in its workforce, with no one story the same as the other.
What Toni and Kerry hope to do is tell you theirs.
Available in paperback.
That Summertime Feeling by Victoria Jane
We’ve talked a lot about the fact summer is nearing its end… but it’s not over yet!
Victoria Jane’s sizzling school romance is the perfect vacation for any reader looking for a classic summer fling. Follow Cassie, a shy and hidden student who whilst away at camp manages to open up to her new-found friends.
The question remains, are all her campmates just friends? Will Cassie simple stay in the background, or is this summer the time she opens her heart to new people and new possibilities?
We know you won’t regret opening up this new novel…
Available in paperback.
The Turning Page by Jules Arentz
Summer is absolutely a time to visit beautiful landscapes, accompanied by the beautiful weather. And no place is quite as beautiful as the Irish Isles.
In Jules Arentz new romance book, we meet Jayne Sinclair, a book lover who is lost in the mediocrity of everyday life. In an unusual move (and after one too many glasses of wine) Jayne replies to a social media ad from an Irish bookstore.
Moving to the Emerald Isle allows more room in her heart as she falls in love with the hills, the coasts and the people – including, rather unexpectedly, her new boss’ son.
Turn the page to see where the story heads next!
Available in paperback.
Where Giants Walk by T. S. J. Smith
In our final pick, we return to a world of magical creatures and danger in T. S. J. Smith’s new fantasy title.
Barry Birchwood is a teenager with no friends, no father and no interest in having an adventure – much as he enjoys reading about them. But sometimes adventure chooses its hero, whether they seek it or not.
As an ancient empire, plunged into darkness and chaos, draws Barry into a strange and dangerous world, he needs to find his courage, source his power and overcome much more than just his own demons.
When adventure beckons, will you answer?
Available in paperback.
