Author Life - J. L THOMAS
J.L Thomas, the author of The Gentle Dominant trilogy, released her book 'The Cosmic Dance' in August 2019. We wanted to catch up with the new author and see how life had been treating her since she was published.
- Did you always dream of becoming an author?
Yes, I did from a very young age. I used to write and put on plays for the junior school that I attended in Germany. I had a fabulous English teacher who encouraged me to read and write – Thank you to Mrs Sibley.
- What was your first job?
Dental Nurse/Nanny
- How did you come about writing your book? Was that your intention or did you start writing for fun?
Darius and Helena’s story had always been within me. It was only a matter of time until I decided to bring them and their story to life, and I hope all who read ‘The Gentle Dominant’ trilogy find themselves captivated by Darius and Helena’s tales!
- What was your life like before you became an author?
Interesting, to say the least!
- Did you face any struggles before becoming an author? If so, how did you overcome them?
No struggles… Just floating through life and using my imagination to the best of its ability!
- Now that you are a published author, how has your life changed, if at all?
Yes, it has changed. My life has become more fun! I have a good network of friends in my local pub – The Bridge Tavern - where they support my writing. One evening, I was in aforementioned pub when I was approached by a total stranger (who has now become a friend.) They showed an interest in my books and I was asked if I would sign each copy of my trilogy for them so they could read the books on their flight back to their hometown in the USA. I was very flattered and moved at the same time. A few days later, another person asked the same of me so they could read my books on their holidays… I find it all good fun! - And I hope people keep asking!
- Can you please describe a typical day in your life now?
A typical day in my life consists of maintaining my many blogs which include – twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest in the morning. In the afternoon I write – either my new book which is work in progress. - It is called ‘Flat-line’ - or I concoct snippets of writes for my WordPress blog.
- What is your most memorable moment of your life as an author?
Holding my first book in my hand for the very first time… Seeing my work inked on the pages and last but not least, Inhaling the scent of a new book.
- In a few words, how would you review your experience with Pegasus Publishers?
I have found Pegasus to be an excellent publishing house. I was guided expertly through the publishing process by their team and I look forward to working with them again,
- Why did you choose Pegasus Publishers?
You could call it a good omen! … I was searching for a publisher and when I came across Pegasus, at that particular moment in time, their website banner immediately caught my eye! I was stunned for it was the picture I had already chosen for book two of my trilogy – Two gold bands around a king chess piece – There was no turning back for me! – A huge thank you, to Pegasus from JL Thomas!
