Dexine Wallbank

Dexine Wallbank spent thirty years of her life as a professional musician until unexpected brain surgery left her unable to continue. She now teaches violin lessons from her home in Victoria, Canada, where she lives with her husband. She is the mother of two adult children and the grandmother of two sweet boys. Dexine has had several poems published in Canadian literary journals.

Jean Wallbank was born in Port Alberni, B.C. Canada in November 1922 and passed from this world in 2011. She spent her childhood in remote locations around Vancouver Island and because of this received very little formal schooling. She loved books, and over her lifetime became very well read. She also loved music and, as an adult, learned the violin well enough to play in amatuer orchestras. Jean wrote many historical articles during her lifetime, which were published in magazines and newspapers such as The Times Colonist and Raincoast Chronicles. She also wrote poetry which is treasured by her family. Jean was the mother of five children, the youngest of whom is Dexine.
