Christopher Davis

Christopher Davis has been writing for at least two decades. A Southern writer, he is interested in stories with characters and themes that are thought provoking and perhaps, haunting. The son of a dogmatic preacher, religious fundamentalism is always present in his work. The span of his experience isn't limited to the South. Yet the language--dialect, ethos and culture of southern people are foundational to his true artistic self. Regardless of norms and popular persuasions, a key principle in his writing is authenticity. His writing heroes are Steinbeck, Hemingway, Richard Ford, Cormac McCarthy, Annie Proulx and other notable artists, primarily due to their literary value and common themes. Favorite works: The Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men, East of Eden, A Farewell to Arms, Canada, Be Mine, The Crossing, The Shipping News.

Originally from the mountains of western North Carolina, Christopher spent many years in Memphis, Tennessee and Mississippi, Virginia and Alaska. Presently, he lives with his wife and son, and their beloved English Bulldog, Rocky, in Paradise, California. He is working on his next novel, The Bishop of Paso Borde, which is set in West Virginia and the California North Coast region.
