Born and raised in Poulton-le-Fylde, near Blackpool in 1955, educated at a local grammar school run by Irish Christian Brothers, then after studying for a degree in Maths and Music at Liverpool, I spent fifteen years as a computer programmer before trying to teach young drivers how to master the art of self-preservation on today's roads.
Now retired, it was time to fulfil an ambition.
