Marigold and the Magic Painting

Sarah Barton-King

Marigold is a bright, curious, eleven year old.‎

Her school is involved with local community issues. ‎
The latest effort is to encourage children to befriend ‎
elderly people especially during holidays,‎
because this is their loneliest time.‎

Marigold always found the house on the canal very ‎
mysterious-looking, but plucked up
her courage to knock on the door ‎
and met Mrs Fawcett, who becomes her friend.‎

Then the teacher had another idea. ‎
Why not have a jumble sale to raise money ‎
to rent a seaside cottage ‎
for families who aren't able to go on holidays.‎

Marigold never expected that a dirty, old painting ‎
waiting to be discovered in an old trunk in the basement ‎
would take her on roller coaster adventures ‎
through several historic events ‎
with Mrs Fawcett and change her life.‎
