Amanda (Love against the odds)

William Brown

In the year 1753, thirteen-year-old Peter Reynarde embarks on a life at sea. A bright and intelligent ‎lad, he is soon taken under the wing of the ship's captain, and it becomes clear that he is more ‎than capable of eventually commanding his own ship.‎
Years later, while in Bristol port, his crew see to it that he is indoctrinated at the local whorehouse, ‎an experience he is desperate to repeat. This time, though, he meets Angela, who is much nearer ‎his own age, and there is an immediate connection, which they cultivate with relish. Could this be ‎love for them both?‎
But Peter has a ship to command across the Three Ts: linens from Bristol to Africa, slaves from ‎Africa to the Indies, and rum, sugar and molasses back to Bristol.‎
That is when he meets the stunning slave, Amanda...‎

THE BOOK CONTAINS SOME WORDS WHICH, WHILE IN COMMON USAGE AT THE TIME DEPICTED, ‎MAY CAUSE OFFENCE TODAY.‎
