Layla’s Story: Whatever it Takes
Rick Goldman and Karen Puntch
£7.99
Layla Jones believed in only three words: Whatever it takes. Those words were drummed into her head from the time of her first memory. There was no other cause but the mission. She was trained to never love anyone. Layla was taught martial arts, the discipline of rank, and to never question orders.
Layla was always the best. In school she was a straight A student. In sports she was better than the boys. Her parents had her join the Theater Guild in grade school and college. She learned how to act and most importantly, learned to be a chameleon.
In her younger years, Layla was sent to a special summer camp. She was indoctrinated with various skills such as hunter, collector of information and the skills of espionage. A loyalty test was given at the end of the year. Each of the participants was given a gun and was told to hold it to their head and pull the trigger. On the count of three all the campers pulled the trigger. Several of the guns went off. Layla and a few others were spared. Only the best, they were told, graduated. Those who died were sacrificed for the good of the rest.
Layla had a purpose. Her mother would handle her, and she would do whatever it takes.
