Home is Where the Herd is

Sarah Juggins

On this farm, every cow has a story, and every calf a heartbeat that echoes through the fields.

From gentle Wagyu to spirited Dexters, the animals are more than livestock - they are companions, teachers, and mirrors to the humans who care for them. ‘Home is Where the Herd is’ takes you through the highs of new life and the heartbreak of loss, the careful art of calf-rearing, and the bitter realities when disease strikes or harsh seasons test the farmer’s resolve. Each birth, each sale, each farewell leaves traces of joy and sorrow, binding man and beast in a strong, authentic bond.

Equal parts tender memoir and practical guide, this novel immerses readers in the rhythm of farm life, revealing the deep emotional currents that flow between those who raise the animals and the animals who, in turn, shape their lives…
