Hunky Punk

Sarah Bramwell and Illustrator Kat Willis

In the weathered stone of an old cathedral, something ancient stirs. A centuries-old guardian Hunky Punk, carved to frighten off demons, wakes to find the world he once knew long gone. His joints creak, his wings are chipped, and there’s an itch deep in his granite bones he can’t quite reach — but something worse gnaws at him: a sense that danger is coming. Down in the town below, life carries on as usual — until Martha, a stubborn and big-hearted stonemason, meets the grumpy, grotesque face to face. Instead of running, she talks back. Together, this unlikely pair — one made of stone, the other of flesh — must uncover why he’s awakened and what secret the cathedral’s foundations are hiding. Between dodging CCTV cameras, battling a cat flap, and facing a threat that could drown the town, Hunky Punk learns that being human isn’t about flesh at all — it’s about heart, courage, and the friends who see past the cracks.
