The House

R E Hayes

When Polly and Steve move into their idyllic countryside home, they expect peace, quiet and long dog walks – not flying crockery, unexplained noises and an atmosphere that feels decidedly… watched.

As unsettling events escalate, an unlikely group gathers. Together, they wait, watch and attempt to outwit whatever refuses to leave the house behind.

What follows is a darkly comic descent into sleepless nights, shattered nerves and the absurd rituals of coexisting with the unknown. Blending sharp humour with moments of tenderness, The House is a story about fear, defiance and the strange bonds formed when nothing goes to plan – especially at home.

ABOUT R E HAYES

R E Hayes originally came from the Greater Manchester town of Chadderton in the north of England, but moved to Cheshire, then onto north Staffordshire, because it was closer to her favourite dog walk. She lives with two incredibly naughty beagles whose mission in their lives is to permanently embarrass her.
