ABOUT JULIA KONSO MBAKIRE

Julia Konso Mbakire is a storyteller with roots in Uganda and Kenya, and her heart in crafting tales that speak to the richness of African cultures. Konso penned her first story, "Kesa and Kobe's Christmas in Nairobi," 10 years ago, just as she completed her A Levels in Nairobi. Today, she aims to fill a gap she noticed growing up—a lack of stories featuring African protagonists and settings that authentically represent the continent's diversity. Now residing in Boston, MA, Konso is making her authorial debut with a mission: to bring inclusive stories to children around the world.
