To Love an African Violet

Dane Starbuck

In a small Indiana town, Eugene O'Connor's life takes a dramatic turn when an African friend who he has not seen in forty years shows up, claiming that a beloved woman who O'Connor thought was dead is actually alive and wishes to see him before she passes away from cancer. As Eugene grapples with the shock of this revelation, memories of his tumultuous past resurface, leading him on a journey back to a village in West Africa where he must confront his past mistakes and the love he left behind.

"My sister gave me your book and I started reading it immediately. The African title obviously intrigued me, with my experience in doing safaris and business there. I couldn't put it down and finished it in two days. It was suspenseful, intriguing, and thought provoking on many different levels."

"I lost a friend when I finished To Love an African Violet. Every night I would read until my husband turned the lights out. I am ready for the sequel. It was wonderful. What a beautiful weaving of events, characters, and time periods. It was not at all predictable and kept me curious of what was about to unfold . . . . To Love an African Violet is masterfully written and a creative piece of work."
