A-Servin’ of ’Er Majesty the Queen

Group Captain David Greenway OBE

David Greenway was born in India. The family came to England in ‎‎1946 and, after Prep and Public School, David joined the Royal Air ‎Force as a pilot. He flew large, multi-engined aircraft and also ‎undertook a number of staff tours. Each of his jobs was different and ‎all were fascinating, mainly because he dealt with people at all levels. ‎He describes his Service life as thirty-seven years of undetected fun. ‎He served in the United Kingdom and overseas and, as well as ‎becoming CO of his squadron, he finished up Commanding Royal Air ‎Force Benson. He was also appointed ADC to Her Majesty the Queen ‎and Deputy Captain of the Queen's Flight which operated from his ‎station. He flew with all members of the royal family and describes ‎the fun he had with them. This is a very light-hearted look at the life ‎he led.‎
