Tales From Over the Meadow - Nature Tales with Moral Tails: Ruby Robin

George Hughes

In the heart of the meadow, where the hedgerow hums with life, lives Ruby Robin-a bright little bird with a big heart. Wise, kind, and always ready to help, she's admired by all, from the gentle blackbirds to the wise old owl, Oswald.
One evening, a worried Ruby notices that children have left an unattended campfire. It is still burning with sparks flying about and soon the surrounding grass catches alight. The fire quickly spreads, threatening the entire meadow.
Ruby sees the danger immediately and she flies over to the hedgerow to warn her friends. What will clever Ruby do next to save their homes?

ABOUT GEORGE HUGHES

George Hughes is retired but leads an active life and is keen to pursue more writing. His previous work includes several adult short stories and over 50 light nature poems published in a popular weekly ladies' magazine. As his first venture into children's fiction, he has written a series of short stories for his two young grandchildren, centred around small adventures involving familiar creatures living in and around a hedgerow beside a meadow in the countryside. In addition to informing on the natural world, the tales deliver an early but light moral message to children at a tender age, in a gentle way His grandchildren enjoyed them, so he hopes to share these stories more widely-so that other children might enjoy them too and that parents will appreciate them.
