HARD

Christopher Wright

In 1982, Fleet Street is a fortress built by men — and Elizabeth Malone is about to kick the door in.

Fresh from a meteoric rise through local papers, Liz arrives at the News Chronicle determined to prove she’s more than the newsroom’s token woman. Armed with talent, grit and a razor‑sharp instinct for a story, she quickly wins over the one man who matters: deputy Features Editor Mike Hammond.

But when the Chronicle collapses overnight, both careers are obliterated. Out of the wreckage comes a daring idea: a free newspaper of their own.

As Liz and Mike throw themselves into the chaos of launching the Croydon Chronicle, they discover that success attracts attention — not all of it welcome. A gangster wants his slice of the action and will kill to get it.

Only one man can sort this out, the remorseless Jason Roberts, and when he steps in all hell breaks loose.

ABOUT CHRISTOPHER WRIGHT

Christopher Wright was a national newspaper journalist for over fifty years, principally on The Daily Telegraph and The Sun. During all that time, he wanted to write his own book but “never had the time.”

He lives in Kent with his wife, Di, and says, “Working without deadlines and the mayhem of a newspaper office is sheer bliss. Now I can't seem to stop!”
