Walking on Eggshells

Elizabeth Morley

Walking on Eggshells is a poignant and candid memoir, delving into the complex and tumultuous relationship Elizabeth shared with her mother. From the discovery of her mother’s histrionic/narcissistic personality disorder to the painful moments of neglect and manipulation, Elizabeth’s narrative is a raw and unflinching exploration of a mother-daughter dynamic marred by dysfunction and emotional turmoil. As she navigates through her mother’s final days, Elizabeth reflects on a lifetime of resentment, hurt and, ultimately, liberation. With a blend of dark humour and stark honesty, Walking on Eggshells is a compelling and cathartic journey through the complexities of family ties, mental illness, and the enduring impact of a tumultuous upbringing.

ABOUT ELIZABETH MORLEY

Elizabeth fell into journalism by accident at the age of seventeen, having left school with precious few skills beyond the ability to spell and construct a sentence fairly convincingly. Her journey through life has been pretty eventful, but always tainted by self-doubt and lack of self-esteem due to the emotional abuse she received at the hands of her mother. Although now retired, Elizabeth still keeps herself out of mischief by ghostwriting autobiographies. She lives alone in Scotland and is surrounded by her precious family and several random rescue animals.
