From painful memories in the hospital to the quiet victories at home, these poems offer an intimate glimpse into the emotional and physical challenges faced in recovery.

Through moments of doubt, fear, and self-reflection, Jessica Parker highlights the power of love, support, and inner strength in the fight for freedom. Each poem is a testament to the courage it takes to fight back against the darkest parts of the mind.

This is not just a story of survival-it's a celebration of resilience and the hope that one day, freedom will be possible.

ABOUT JESSICA PARKER

Growing up, Jessica Parker always struggled to communicate how she was feeling and thinking. She never understood why she felt so different from everyone else. Then, in November 2023, Jessica was diagnosed with autism at the age of sixteen. Her first poem, My Autism Poem, was written when her family were at work and school. Later that day, when she showed it to them, they were amazed, not knowing it would lead to many more. She has learnt that writing poems is an amazing tool for her to communicate her exact thoughts and feelings. They also help others to understand her.
