Katie and the Brain

Claire James

This is the first book in the series of books which are educational, whilst being entertaining. This first book introduces the main character, Katie and informs the reader about the different parts of the human brain, and how it works with the rest of the body. The upbeat rhyming style of this book makes it accessible for both children and adults of any age or reading ability. The intention is for the reader to learn about the biological basis of human behavior, and the autonomic nervous system. In the following books, Katie tells the story of her friends and family and will address individually, biological and behavioral issues such as: anger, anxiety, sadness, safety states.

ABOUT CLAIRE JAMES

I am a qualified Social Worker, and I have been working with children of all ages and their
families for many years.
I also have a degree in Psychology and have used my knowledge to create these books, to
be used not only as entertainment, but also as a learning tool for all ages. I have a keen
interest in the concepts of the Polyvagal Theory [Dr. Stephen Porges], and really believe that
knowledge for our young people is empowering. For us to really help the next generation,
they must be able to first understand their own bodies, brains and how they work, what they
do, and how they can be influenced by the world around them.
I have absolutely loved creating these books, and thank you for reading them.
