The Boy in the Green Dress

Barry Jackson

Jack Curtis is one of life’s natural survivors

PART 1

Arriving at his new boarding school, in rural East Anglia, in 1963, Jack’s expecting all the pampering of his colonial childhood in Africa and Asia to continue. But he’s in for a big surprise. 360 boys all looking for trouble – and the new boys are the targets. But Jack quickly realises protection is the key to survival, so he immediately devises ways to keep himself on top, and his life certainly does pick-up.

PART 2

All grown-up, and now calling himself JJ, he returns to Hong Kong – and the lifestyle he so enjoys. It’s 1975 and he’s found a real job – one with unbelievable perks, including lots of travel. When he bumps into his old school pal, George, who needs Jack’s help to get back on track – and that’s not easy.

PART 3

It’s 1987 and Jack is now living in Sydney. But today is not going well. So, he sneaks off early – and gets stuck in a sauna with two people who hate him. They sit there, naked and ignoring each other until a power outage traps them. And in the process of finding an escape, they discover that they are actually all far more similar than they first believed.

The two books that continue to follow Jack Curtis’ romp through life in “The Green Dress Trilogy”, are:

Two Guys with Pink Leotards

And

My Three Favourites

ABOUT BARRY JACKSON

Barry was born in Kenya, grew up in Asia and educated in the UK. He worked in Europe and Australasia - initially as a travel trade journalist, and later in professional services marketing - working for some of the best-known accountancy firms, law firms and banks. His final working chapter was in the not-for-profit space. And he attributes his fortunate life to both the African chief at his birth and his long-suffering partner of 35 years - who appears in this tale in many different guises.
