Have you ever had a dream - a nightmare - so mysterious and strange that it didn't really make sense, but also so vivid that you had to accept it for what it was?

Early twentieth century, Connecticut, United States. Eleven-year-old Lillian starts a new life with her loving family after her father's promotion at a museum. Everything seems to be working out perfectly, and her new life looks very promising. But shortly after her arrival to America, a series of tragic events begins to unfold. Deaths, kidnapping, threats... If only it were a nightmare from which she could wake... but Lilly is faced with the brutal reality where fear, cold, hunger and exhaustion will get the best of her and those closest to her.
