Mike Malyon
Mike Malyon was born in Gulson Hospital, Coventry, on 12 February 1950 and went to Sir Henry Parkes Junior School and Bablake Grammar School. He moved with his family to live in Nuneaton and in the summer of 1966 landed a job as a trainee newspaper reporter with the Evening Tribune. It launched a long journalistic career that saw Mike covering local, national and international events. After travelling to Mexico for the 1970 World Cup soccer finals, he joined the Coventry Evening Telegraph and rose to become deputy sports editor, before being offered the job as editor of the fledgling Nuneaton and Bedworth Trader. In the early '90s redundancy prompted a return to the Tribune, which was then a weekly. After taking over as editor, he eventually moved back to the Coventry Telegraph, to run the Nuneaton and North Warwickshire edition. Since retiring in 2015, Mike has published two biographies - of his uncle, comedian Larry Grayson, and of international footballer, Jimmy Holmes. He lives in Nuneaton with his wife, Lynn, and is a proud father and grandad.
