Michael John Littlefair
Michael John Littlefair’s father and aunties were all born in Chopwell.
During the 1970s, for his PhD, he studied the Geology of the Antarctic Peninsula. He visited the Falkland Islands and undertook field work at several locations along the Antarctic Peninsula.
He emigrated to Australia in 1988 where he worked for a number of mining companies, until in 1998 he changed career and became a research scientist in mining and military explosives.
He has visited Russia twice as part of his explosives work; once to a sea port north of Vladivostok and then to Kemerovo in Siberia and Moscow.
