In Celebration of Reading- World Book Day 2023

Join us as we celebrate the joy of reading on this annual World Book Day!

02 March, 2023

Once again, we have landed at that momentous time of year; a day that unites book lovers of all persuasions, a day that brings the joy of reading to the younger generation- the first Thursday of March- World Book Day! This year, World Book Day celebrations land today, Thursday 2nd March in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It is a widely celebrated charity event that has a specific goal; encourage reading as a leisure activity, especially in young children. Here at Pegasus Publishers, we cannot express quite how much we agree with that sentiment. It is dishearteningly common for reading to be looked upon as a chore, relegated to the status of yet another tedious aspect of schoolwork. We know as well as anyone that reading can be one of the most enjoyable activities out there, as it holds the power to transport you to new worlds with little more than ink, paper and imagination. Like many publishers, we feature a wide roster of genres; from children’s fiction to horror, and historical fiction to poetry. One of the many joys of reading is that when it comes to subject matter, there is almost always something for everyone. Not a fan of fiction? Not to worry, there are a plethora of non-fiction books at your fingertips! Don’t fancy tackling a book that’s upwards of five-hundred pages? Novellas and short story collections are your friend. You can take a look at our complete catalogue here. Have a browse, maybe you’ll find something you like! World Book Day celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, and they were proud to be able to report that 101k books donated by publishers and the Arts Council were given to children who were least likely to have a book of their own, 79% of children took part in a World Book Day event and over 2 million £1/1.50 books were printed. For those unfamiliar with World Book Day’s mission, you can head over to their website for more details.
