Perry Samarkandi, the author of The MM Diamond, shares some details about their life after becoming a new author!
Did you always dream of becoming an author? Yes, however, I never had time during my busy work hours and travel. I wrote my first book 44 year ago when I had first started working at Lehman Brothers Inc. Once retiring I started looking into actually publishing my work.
What was your first job? Straight after graduating from London school of economics and political science, I went straight into banking at Lehman Brothers Inc. until I eventually went on to becoming a commodify broker and started my own firm.
How did you come about writing your book? Was that your intention or did you start writing for fun? I started writing the MM diamond about 10 years ago, originally, I had wanted to create a film of the book for Laurence bender but this never materialised and so I went on to look for a publisher.
What was your life like before you became an author? I’ve lived a better life than I could have ever wished for, I have travelled most of the world, seen once in a lifetime destination, had a family and had a fast-paced career from a young age. Becoming an author may be the most tamed part of my life for me but it is the one career path I’ve wanted for a long time and never got around to making a reality until Pegasus came along.
Did you face any struggles before becoming an author? If so, how did you overcome them? Like I said I started writing 44 years ago and am only yet publishing, I went to 20 different publishers and agents but was always let down. In particular by one agent who was a friend who had taken the book on and pulled out at the last minute but everything happens for a reason and here we are.
Now that you are a published author, how has your life changed, if at all? Nothing has changed as of yet; I think it is still early days but I do hope this is just the beginning to greater endeavours.
Can you please describe a typical day in your life now? Unfortunately, my typical days are not as interesting as they once were being a 75-year-old pensioner! However, I do like to keep myself busy/moving and spend as much time with my family as I can.
What is your most memorable moment of your life as an author? Completing the book was a big moment for me and of course finding out it was going to be published but as I said it is still early days so I imagine more memorable moments are up ahead. I would say the day I find out a film production will be made based on the MM diamond will be a great accomplishment and memory for me.
In a few words, how would you review your experience with Pegasus Publishers? My experience with Pegasus Publishers has been very enjoyable and smooth, I would like to continue the partnership for further publications.
Why did you choose Pegasus Publishers? They came highly recommended by a friend.
