1. Did you always dream of becoming an author?
Not really. I had always written poems and song lyrics, so writing a book seemed the natural progression. Now I have written a novel, yes I dream about becoming a full time author.
2. What was your first job?
I was an apprentice Painter and Decorator, which is the job I am still doing today.
3. How did you come about writing your book? Was that your intention or did you start writing for fun?
I have a favourite song called ‘Forever Autumn’ and there is a verse in it that gave me the inspiration to write my published novel. The others I found that I could sit in front of a computer and write a story and it make sense.
4. What was your life like before you became an author?
Well I was writing lots of stuff and just filing it on a stick. I am now doing marketing and running my facebook site for my book and also am writing freelance for a local magazine doing reviews, articles and poetry.
5. Did you face any struggles before becoming an author? If so, how did you overcome them?
Not really. I didn’t want to write one book, then send it off, because if a publisher wanted more, I would have been under pressure to write then. But I just thoroughly enjoy writing and before I sent my novel in, I had written 7 novels ready. I was just fortunate that my first novel was good enough to be taken on and I feel humbled that has happened.
6. Now that you are a published author, how has your life changed, if at all?
A little bit I suppose. I have done a radio interview and book signing and I have been recognised in the street. People who know me and have read the book say how good it is and when is the next one being released!
7. Can you please describe a typical day in your life now?
It’s pretty much as it was. But every day I am receiving hits on my facebook page and receiving emails from book clubs to go and do a Q&A and signing evenings. The book is still being sold locally and I am trying to get it onto Waterstones shelves.
8. What is your most memorable moment of your life as an author?
When I opened my cardboard box and first took a look at my novel. The cover was so striking. That told me that it was longer a dream but to hold it in your hands, makes it a reality and I only have Pegasus to thank for that!
Three Weeks, Two Lives, One End can be purchased directly from Pegasus Publishers and also Amazon and Waterstones.
