Mental Health Awareness Week | Nature
It's Mental Health Awareness Week, so we thought we would share some facts and have a discussion about this important topic.
It's Mental Health Awareness Week, and with the focus being nature this month, we thought we would share some facts and have a discussion about this important topic.

Did you know that 1 in 4 people in the UK will suffer from a mental health problem each year?
Or how about that 1 in 6 people will experience a common mental health issue such as anxiety or depression each week?
This year's Mental Health Awareness Month is focused on Nature... Trying to reconnect with nature and help relieve anxiety and depression. A wonderful quote from mentalhealth.org.uk, "Nature is our great untapped resource for a mentally healthy future."
Below you will find some key things that you can do to help relieve stress.
Focus on the Small Things See the squirrel jumping from tree branch to tree branch, or take in the scent of freshly cut grass. Focusing on nature specifically, down to the smallest detail, will help keep you calm and free of stress.
Excercise in Nature Why not trade the treadmill for a jog down a riverbank, or through a forest? A change of scenery goes a long way, and the endless variety and paths you can take will keep your senses engaged and motivated.
Bring Nature to You Sometimes it's hard with the busy city life to really appreciate nature, but that doesn't mean you can't! Buy a plant (or many plants) and care for them, or if you have a garden, start growing fruit or vegetables. Having the disconnect that is nature from your busy schedule can really make the difference.
If you know someone who is struggling with stress, or anxiety, be sure to let them know you are there. All it takes is a message or a phone call, and that can make all of the difference.
