Maria Porfiri author of The Native Girl, released their book recently! We wanted to catch up with them and see what their life is like as a new author!

  1. Did you always dream of becoming an author?

In fact I did not. As a matter of fact, the impulse came from different external sources;

e.g. my companion, s writer himself, even my character analysis.

  1. What was your first job.

I worked as Ground Hostess at Zurich Airport

  1. How did you come about writing your book? Was that your intention or did you start writing for fun.

I followed the advice of my companion. He strongly believed in my talent. My intention? Probably I just wanted to follow his encouragement.

  1. What was your life like before you became an author?

One full of different interests. I am very curious, I want to experience whatever offers me diversity and challenge.

  1. Did you face any struggles before becoming an author? If so, how did you overcome them?

I did not. I was very lucky, I must admit it. I was able to find an invaluable English professor, who corrects my manuscripts, and a publisher. I am very lucky, indeed.

  1. Now that you are a published author, how has your life changed, if at all?

Apparently it has not changed at all. Of course, I have gained self-esteem. I approach my writing from a different angle and feel I have brought to the surface what was already there.

  1. Can you please describe a typical day in your life now?

I can. I am a very common person. I regularly walk the dog, going after my housekeeping, entertain friends, take care of my two cats, I am very sensitive to our environment and suffer a lot at its deterioration. But among all my doings and thinking, my mind is continuously occupied by the different stories I have started and are waiting to be finished.

  1. What is your most memorable moment of your life as an author?

Undoubtedly the moment I received the publisher’s acceptance of my story. It was like Christmas, I called at once, David the professor, to tell him the news. The sensation is still alive, I feel so accomplished.

  1. In a few words, how would you review your experience with Pegasus Publishers?

I am very pleased. I felt appreciated by them, all the time. Thank you.

  1. Why did you choose Pegasus Publishers?

Why? Pegasus the mythical winged divine horse.
