Christmas is a magical time of year for friends and families to come together to spread joy and cheer. Below are some facts about Christmas to get you into the holiday spirit!
- The Chritsmas tree wasn't popular in England until 1846, when Queen Victoria's husband, German Prince Albert, brought it over when he married her! The tradition spread nationwide and is still adored today!

December 25 was probably chosen because it collided with the old pagan festival Saturnalia, which celebrated the god Saturn with partying, gambling, and gift-giving.

Christmas Day is supposedly when Jesus was born.....however most historians believe that was actually born in spring!

Santa Claus delivering presents comes from Holland’s celebration of St. Nicholas’ feast day on December 6. Children would put their shoes out the night before and, in the morning, would find gifts that St. Nicholas had left them!

One of the reasons we leave milk and cookies for Santa is because Dutch kids would leave food and drink for St. Nicholas on his feast day; and we leave carrots for Santa Claus’ reindeer because, in Norse mythology, people left hay and treats for Odin’s eight-legged horse Sleipnir “in hopes that Odin would stop by their home during his Yule hunting adventures.”
- In the past Santa had worn, Blue, Green and White, it wasn't until the 1930s when his tradition Red coat came from an ad by Coca Cola.

- Did you know that “Jingle Bells” was originally supposed to be a Thanksgiving song? Because I didn't!
- Oliver Cromwell banned any Christmas Celebration in the early 17th Century, until King Charles II claimed the thrown bring all joy back to England, good ole’ Charles!
- Rudolph was going to be named Reginald! Thankfully it was changed to Rudolph……..”Redginal the Red Nose Reindeer!” don’t have a good ring to it if you ask me!
