As we creep ever closer to the warm embrace of Summer, there’s still time to get yourself beach ready… with plenty of beach books of course! Reading in the sun is one of life's greatest pleasures, but choosing which paperback (or e-book) gets to join in the fun is quite the task - especially if you’re traveling abroad with a limited amount of luggage space.

Luckily, here at Pegasus Publishers, we have an imminent publication day, which will see a magnificent assortment of new reads hitting the bookshelves, waiting to be opened. We are proud of each and every one of our authors, many of whom will see their first book published this Thursday.

To wade through the many new titles and to assist in pinning your next read down, here are five books which we are very excited to release into the world this month:

Bridge of Souls by Lisa Weaver

This is a folklore and mythical-minded YA fiction novel from newspaper writer turned novelist Lisa Weaver. We meet Alex, a son to an overprotective mum, brother to a moody sister and someone who loathes the fact he must spend his holiday isolated with the two of them on the remote Orkney Island.

Where other YA success stories, like The Hunger Games, build a fantasy world around their lead characters and invite the reader in, Bridge of Souls imbues reality with the supernatural, with ghost stories and with unseen, magical forces. Lisa Weaver, “hopes it encourages [young readers] to have faith in their intuitively inspired thoughts, leading them to eventually connect with the mythology of their local landscape and explore its history, myths and legends.”

What starts as a fascination for Alex with the supernatural, turns into the adventure of a lifetime; a mysterious and dangerous quest in an ancient landscape where no soul is safe - not even his own.

Helping Razzle Find Her Dazzle by Elliott Gilbert

For our youngest of readers, there is no time like the present to start! With Elliott Gilbert’s debut, he has condensed his love for the weird and wonderful into this whimsical title, aimed at allowing parents and children to read together and discover the magnificence of the animal kingdom.

Did you know that a group of Zebras are called a "Dazzle?" Or that a group of ducks are called a "Paddling?"

Helping Razzle Find Her Dazzle follows Razzle on a worldwide journey to find her Dazzle. In doing so she comes across numerous groups of animals and discovers what we should be calling them. Lots of fun for both children and adults!

Emerald Sins by R J Barron

R J Barron is a lifelong lover of reading and writing - one of the bucket list items was to publish a book. From their tireless work, comes the shape shifting fantasy Emerald Sins. Like Bridge of Souls, this is a YA appropriate read, but is equally titillating for adult readers.

When Harper undergoes a life changing attack, she must learn to adapt to her newfound immortality and shapeshifting ability. Forced onto a journey of discovery and retribution, Harper will come into contact with hidden kingdoms, deep alliances and an unexpected and passionate love.

This is a dramatic journey, a tale of discovery and a quest through a new and invigorating fantasy realm.

Spies of Ambient Light by Charlie Walters

Did you know that June is Crime Reading Month in the UK? We all love a good crime caper and few times in history were quite as excellent with stories of espionage than the Second World War. Charlie Walters’ love of spycraft and recent travels to the USA, Europe and Canada, have directly influenced this release.

The year is 1939. The world is on the edge of war. Claire Calais is at war with her lover - who she has just discovered is a saboteur. She is a financially broke twenty-two year old who turns to the international world of spying.

This is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride, writhe with assassinations and betrayals with a female protagonist forced to navigate a male-dominated world. Spies of Ambient Light is the perfect celebration of all that Crime Fiction has to offer!

Catharse-is by Steven Ogg

This may feel like we’re cheating a little bit - Catharse-is is not due out until June 3rd, not the month of May. But with a publication date in less than a week and with our excitement levels reaching fever pitch, we couldn’t not include it.

Steven Ogg, known for his starring roles in tentpole TV shows like Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead and the deliciously digestible new BBC series Boiling Point, Steven now aims to branch his creative mind to the written page. With a life of struggle, of hardships and of battles with his mental health, Steven has condensed many of his most difficult thoughts into the cathartic releases of these poems.

Marcel Proust wrote that, "ideas come to us as the successors to griefs, and griefs, at the moment when they change into ideas, lose some part of their power to injure the heart". Steven Ogg follows this mantra in a deeply moving and emotionally enriching poetry collection.
