Ethne Cullen, the author of 'Tangled Webs' and 'The Water's Depth', released her book in September 2019. We wanted to catch up with the new author and see how life had been treating her since she was published.
Yes, even as a teenager I was writing short stories for my family to read. I also entered poetry writing competitions.
I was a school teacher before moving to teach in two universities.
I always hoped I would be able to write a full novel and had many ideas tucked in a drawer in my desk. When I retired I decided that it was now time to start writing seriously.
I have always led a very active life. I sat on a number of boards, play a lot of sport as well as belong to bridge and book groups.
I have lived and worked in five countries and that has sometimes presented challenges regarding settling in and relating to the locals.
I don’t feel that my personal life has changed much. However, people tell me that they now look at me differently as they see the book’s characters in me!
My day is still very busy with activities. Having just completed my second novel I now have more time for my painting which I enjoy doing in my leisure time.
I remember opening the email which informed me that my first novel had been accepted for publication. It was a very exciting and confirming moment.
I have found all the staff to be very supportive and professional.
I was looking for a publisher that accepted unsolicited manuscripts. As well, I was pleased that Pegasus had a review process for all manuscripts.
