Blair Wylie has released a range of books with us from 'Master defiance' 'Tube Dwellers' 'Tube survivors' and her recent book 'Covert alliance' was released in May 2019! We wanted to catch up with the author and see how life had been treating her since...
I never thought it would be possible, but then again I did not have a published writer mentor to guide me. My school teachers liked my stories. I have always thought ‘out of the box’ I guess, and I have a vivid imagination.
I bagged groceries in high school, and installed telephones in university. I worked thirty-five years in upstream oil & gas as an engineer and manager. I saw a bit of the world. And I gathered some interesting story ideas!
I started writing for fun in my retirement. And I am having fun!
Very worked focused. I have learned to relax in retirement. Writing helps me do that.
The continual stress of work in the boom and bust oil and gas industry probably affected my health. My health is really good now. I work out every day, and I eat right. And I have some close friends who like to golf, ski and sport fish like I do.
It probably has encouraged me to explore other avenues in my writing, to venture places where I might have been too timid to go before.
I am an early riser and a morning person. I usually write after breakfast when I have a clear mind. Then I work out for an hour or so. I live on a high hill in Newfoundland, and I have an electric-assisted ‘fat bike’. I ride it for 10 kilometres or so through the nearby forest when the weather is not too bad. I like golf, sport fishing, gardening and yard work a lot. I prepare meals from scratch, and I have a drink of Canadian rye whisky before dinner.
Seeing my first published book in print for the first time, and sending copies off to family and friends.
Pegasus is a confidence builder. Their proof-readers are top-notch and very supportive. The cover design team is superb. The company has a well-defined process, and they execute it very well.
They are willing and able to work with new authors, and they want to see more manuscripts!
