Meet Anna Yosifova, author of the contemporary fiction title Margo.

We are honoured to work with as many authors as we do at Pegasus Publishers – each with their own stories to tell. Their worlds are singular, their characters are relatable and their creativity truly knows no bounds.
This is Author Life, a feature on the Pegasus Blog, that opens the door to each of our author’s creative process and previous literary experience, offering you – the reader – an opportunity to learn a little about the mind behind the novel.

Could you tell us three interesting facts about yourself?
- I like books - shocking.
- Yoga in the evening is my lifesaver.
- Long walks on the weekends are a must.
Could you tell us three interesting facts about yourself?
In your own life, what influences and inspires you to write? My mum has been my inspiration all my life, I even named my first book after her.
Which book or author has had the biggest impact on you, and why?
Throughout my life, I have read many books and every single one of them has taught me so much about writing and building characters and stories. I’ve been inspired mostly by J K Rowling as Harry Potter was the first book I read as a child, and I instantly knew that I want to do what she has done.
Can you tell me about the book?
Margo is written as a life story novella. When writing it I wanted the reader to be able to connect with the characters and its stories. I added a little bit for the younger people and the young ones at heart as well. I hope they liked it as much as I did.
What were your first experiences with writing?
I started writing fan fictions when I was 12 and quickly after, I started writing different short stories before finally starting to experiment with writing books.
In your opinion, what are the key ingredients for a good story or novel?
Just write it down and edit later.
How long should an author spend on their craft each day?
Writing a book can be so daunting and time consuming. I usually write over the weekends otherwise I can’t find time for it at all.
What was the most challenging part of writing this book, and what did you learn from writing it?
Most challenging was making the characters as real as possible. You must put yourself in their shoes and think really hard about what you would do if you were them. By writing it I found out a lot about myself and who I am as a person.
What common pitfalls should aspiring writers avoid?
Overthinking is the main enemy. Never do that. The main goal is to write the book regardless of how bad it can be.
What writing advice would you offer to your younger self?
Always push yourself, never abandon your work. If you have a writer's block, just take a walk and give yourself some time, the story will come to you freely.
