David Yates

David Yates was born in Berkshire in 1957. In the Royal Navy he served in the 1982 Falklands War and the 1992 First Gulf War. His Falklands War book, Bomb Alley, was published by Pen and Sword in 2006. Halsgrove published Beaches, Bars and Blisters of the Isle of Wight in 2009. Simone Dickens was born in Birmingham in 1970, where she trained as a graphic designer and illustrator. They married in 2014 and created Kingston Smallholding Goat Farm. To control rats, they introduced some cats, one of whom, Maggie, became the initial inspiration for these poems.
