A Cobo Sunset

Neil Robin

David Robin was a child-evacuee from Guernsey just ahead of the invasion of the island by German Forces in 1940. He remained in the UK after the war and lived in the village of Chaddleworth, where he married Marion and raised their son Toby.

Thirty-five years after leaving Guernsey, David moved his family to live in the island of his birth – a decision that was not at all welcomed by his teenage son, at least not until he met a new friend.

This book centres on Toby’s life during the mid-1970s (no doubt prompting readers of a certain age to recall their own experiences at that time) and goes on to reveal how life then unfolded for him in the years that followed.

About Author

Neil Robin

By his own admission, Neil spent a relatively unsuccessful five years at the Guernsey Grammar School for Boys in the early 1970s, where English Language and English Literature were the only subjects that he really enjoyed and at which he seemed to have some sort of above-average ability.
He therefore left school with little idea of what he wanted to do with his life, and, mainly due to his father being acquainted with the head of personnel at the Guernsey Civil Service, he was taken on as a clerical assistant and went onto a thirty-year career in various departments and different roles.
Once his children had left school and the mortgage was cleared, Neil decided to revisit his schoolboy penchant for the written word and spent twelve years in a second career working in journalism and public relations.
Retiring from work at the age of sixty years, Neil then turned his hand to writing books.

Retiring from work at the age of sixty years, Neil then turned his hand to writing books, and his first, A Breed Apart, was accepted by Pegasus Publishers and appeared on the bookshelves in 2022.
Pegasus had also asked for the first option on two more books, and so Neil began working on A Home from Home, which was co-written with Lucy Leadbeater and was published in 2024.
Now, we have Neil's third book, A Cobo Sunset, which continues the sequence of one book being published every two years.
While it is essentially a work of fiction, much of this book is autobiographical, and while all of the characters are based on real people, the names have all been changed to protect the innocent!
