Born in Lancashire in 1939, Patricia grew up in Worcestershire and taught English for twenty-five years. She resigned, to work alongside and support, her husband, Alan Cotton, in his career as a professional artist. In her sixties, she fulfilled an ambition to go to Drama School, gaining an MA in Acting and Theatre Practices at Rose Bruford College. Patricia has been writing for over thirty years, but this is the first manuscript submitted to a publisher. ‘Heartbreak Baby' takes her own remarkable story as a starting point, but it is a novel, and most of the characters and events are entirely fictional.
As the dark clouds of war gather over Europe, a child is christened into a family not her own. Hers will be a journey of discovery, of uncovering the truth about her true parentage, and the prejudice that drove her mother to face the unthinkable.
