Zafah and the Red Super Giant

Pam Dean

As the Galaxy moves into a quiet state, Zafah, a young energetic star has an unexpected and unknown visitor. With a raspy voice he makes himself known, "I'm the Red Supergiant and as you can see I'm magnificent, massive, wonderful me. Yet despite my great fame I've chosen little you from the trillions of stars to help me do a secret task that I must carry through."

As Red Supergiant talks more of his plans clever Zafah realises the great danger they bring.

But what to do? Who to turn to? Zafah is alone and fearful.

Yet, when all seems lost, unexpected help comes and Zafah learns of a powerful weapon that can be used to stop Red Supergiant. But is Zafah brave enough to use it?

Pam is an accredited counsellor with an M.Ed. in counselling. Recognising how difficult it was for adults and children to talk about difficult life experiences, Pam trained in Person Centred Art Therapy and therapeutic story work. She found working with stories and images provided opportunities, especially for children, to identify with a fictional character and in doing so begin to talk about their own experiences and emotions. Pam has an interest in astronomy so, when wanting to write a story for children who had experienced difficulties or trauma it seemed a natural pairing to bring the two passions together.
