Avery Phillips is a creative and determined nine-year-old author and illustrator from Kansas. Her love of storytelling and art began at an early age, inspired by both her imagination and her resilience.

At just five months old, Avery was diagnosed with a rare seizure disorder that required intensive medical treatment. After nine months, she became seizure-free, but she faced developmental delays that required two years of occupational, physical, and early childhood therapies. By the age of four, Avery had not only caught up to her peers but had surpassed many developmental milestones.

Today, she excels in reading, writing, and mathematics and continues to thrive academically and creatively. Avery’s early experiences shaped her deep empathy and appreciation for perseverance. Her neurologist once affectionately called her a “unicorn” in recognition of her remarkable recovery. With determination, encouragement, and hard work, Avery has grown into a confident young storyteller who fills notebooks with imaginative tales and colorful illustrations.

The Timid Triangle and the Hyperactive Hexagon reflects Avery’s passion for creativity, inclusion, and problem-solving.
