One of the most common things I hear from moms when we start talking about the trials of early motherhood and postpartum is this: "Nobody talks about it."
Nobody talks about the toll pregnancy takes on your body.
Nobody talks about how your carefully thought-out birth plan might go out the window.
Nobody talks about how exhausting and overwhelming those first few months with a newborn truly are.
Nobody talks about how deeply you change—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally—with each birth.
Nobody talks about the resentment that can bubble up toward your spouse, your friends, your family, or even your baby.
Nobody talks about the crushing loneliness that can creep in, even when you’re surrounded by people.
And nobody tells you just how heavy “mom guilt” can be.
Well, I think it’s time we started talking.
It’s time to make space for the hard conversations.
It’s time to be okay with not being okay.
It’s time to come together and shine a light into the dark corners of early motherhood.
It’s time to talk about it.
