Nala

Katri Sallinen

Nala is just a cleaner, following all the rules.

She gets her regular contraceptive injections, so getting pregnant should be impossible.

But then it happens.

Now she’s carrying a baby she never planned for and isn’t allowed to have. In a world where you need a government licence to be pregnant, her pregnancy is a crime.

If she tells anyone, they will take her child away.

Trapped by a system she once believed in, Nala must hide her secret from everyone – her family, her doctors and the watchful eyes of the government.

But as her body changes, hiding becomes impossible. Her only chance is to fight for the right to keep her own baby, in a world that says she doesn’t deserve one.

This is a story of one woman’s desperate struggle for the most basic right of all: to be a mother.
