Tatjana Shnitka – a children’s fantasy author
who firmly believes that the world around us
is full of wonders! She knows this from her two
grandchildren. In a world invisible to adults but
undeniably real, kind (and not-so-kind) creatures
live, play pranks, rejoice, and sometimes grieve.
It is essential for children to know about them. If
we don’t tell them in time, they will grow up to be
adults who understand nothing—grim and overly
serious. That must not happen! The heroes of
her children’s fantasy books are ghosts, gnomes,
house spirits, and other worthy beings that
certainly reside in her city—Riga.
A small, rather unusual ghost named Petey dreams of becoming human. The Good Fairy has told him that to achieve this, he must gather emotions within himself, holding onto them rather than sharing them with others.
