She has lived and worked in West Sussex all her life. She is the proud mother of a son and daughter and grandmother to four wonderful grandsons. After leaving school at seventeen, she began her career in a secretarial role with a local accountant. She later moved to a simulation company where she became PA to the Managing Director and spent twelve very happy years before leaving to have her son.
Several part-time roles followed, during which time her daughter was born. Now retired, she takes great pleasure in watching her grandsons grow and flourish.
When Spencer can't quite say "Tuppence," a beloved toy cat is given a new name—and a new life. By day, Wuppence is just a soft, cuddly companion tucked under Spencer's arm. But when the house falls silent and the moon rises, he comes alive. Waiting for him each night is Penny—a supremely proud Russian Blue with exquisite breeding, exacting standards, and absolutely no patience for common cats, common mice, or common sense. Together, the unlikely pair set out on nightly adventures around the garden, and Wuppence is gently, hilariously educated in the ways of the world according to Penny. From that first uncertain meeting in the nursery, their friendship grows through years of shared mischief and mayhem: trips to the vet, a scooter accident, a holiday abroad that goes disastrously wrong, the arrival of not one but two new babies, and a house move that threatens to separate them from garden friends George the mouse, Henry the hedgehog, and Olly the owl. Along the way, readers will laugh at Penny's magnificent self-regard, cheer for Wuppence's quiet resilience, and discover—chapter by chapter—that even the haughtiest heart has room for real affection. Warm, funny, and full of gentle charm, The Adventures of Wuppence is a story about friendship in all its unlikely forms, and the small, ordinary magic that happens when someone chooses to love you exactly as you are. Perfect for young readers and for grown-ups who remember what it felt like to believe their favourite toy might just come alive at night.
