Mike Foreman was born in the West Country and educated in Norfolk. He spent the first twelve years of his working life in the British Merchant Navy as a ship’s radio officer but left the service due to its rapid decline, then deciding to work on flag-of-convenience vessels instead. After a brief stint working at Portishead Radio, he left the sea completely and worked for an office supplies company for a number of years before taking early retirement and relocating to central Brittany.
Born in a frozen wilderness to a Native American mother and a Viking father, Tsula grows up caught between worlds that refuse to claim him. Drawn by blood and destiny, he journeys to his father’s homeland, only to be swept into the armies of Oleg the Prophet and carried across the vast Russian steppes toward the fabled city of Miklagard. Along the way, Tsula witnesses unspeakable atrocities and endures captivity at the hands of dark, blue-skinned captors who force him to choose between death and Islam. When he finally returns to Norway, his mind is fractured, his faith shaken, and his sense of self in ruins. Seeking meaning, he joins a Viking raid to Northumberland, to Tettenhall, hoping to confront the Dødsbringeren and uncover his fate. Having chased Valhalla all his life, Tsula believes his place among the Einherjar awaits—only to find the gates of destiny closed, for now.
