Merrill James Shepard was born in Washington County, Maine. And although he and the family left the area when he was still very young, he returned often to hunt and fish from the remote cabin his grandfather built a hundred years ago. He has retained a deep appreciation for the land and the people of Maine and features them in his series of Down East Mysteries.
Kingman Steeves was born and raised on a family ranch in Western Montana riding horses, shoveling manure and helping his father repair old worn out machinery. He grew up to become one of the world's most recognized and admired writers of horror stories. Now middle aged, he decides to give back to the craft that made him rich and famous by establishing a writers colony on a remote and isolated island…with one caveat…it has to be haunted.
