About

Lyn Longworth

The story idea came from the children Lyn has worked with, from seeing them shine in an extraordinary light although accessing learning in a unique way.

She is extremely passionate about this story, as most classes will have a Herb-Bee, and Herb-Bees should be celebrated too! A fundamental belief of hers is that if children start from a young age to understand differences, we can progress into a more welcoming, understanding and kind society.

In a quiet field buzzing with life, one little bee is about to discover that being different can be something truly special. It’s the first day out for Herb-Bee and his friends after a long time, and everyone is eager to collect nectar and do their part for the hive. But Herb-Bee doesn’t quite do things the same way as the others. While the rest follow the usual paths, Bee follows something else entirely—his nose! Drawn by delightful scents, Herb-Bee sets off on his own adventure, meeting friendly flowers like Chive, Basil, Rosemary, and Lavender along the way. Each encounter fills his day with wonder, new friendships, and the sweet reward of nectar. But as the day unfolds, Herb-Bee also faces challenges—misunderstandings, overwhelming moments, and the struggle of expressing how he truly feels. With the help of his friend Betty-Bee, Herb-Bee learns an important lesson: it’s okay to think, feel, and explore the world differently. In fact, sometimes it’s those differences that make us shine the brightest. Warm, gentle, and uplifting, this charming story celebrates individuality, friendship, and self-acceptance. Perfect for young readers, it encourages children to embrace who they are and reminds them that everyone has their own unique way of seeing the world. Follow Herb-Bee’s heartwarming journey and discover the beauty of being yourself.
