Born and bred in Hereford, in the rural Welsh borderlands, Kevin Bright grew up with his parents and three brothers. His father was a natural storyteller, who would often reminisce about his childhood on a Saturday evening. Kevin studied modern and medieval languages and literature in Leeds, developing a love of the art of storytelling along the way. The lure of travel and interest in cultures and history took him to France, Germany and several countries in the Middle East, before moving to Switzerland, where he lives today near the shores of Lake Lucerne.
Isaac, a vicar in rural England, finds his life in turmoil after the still birth of his third child in 1917.
