Helvegen
In Dylan Kenworthy’s Helvegen, survival on the remote world of Fflota is measured by vigilance, not years. Bayn, a highly skilled yet deeply reserved Security Technician, has spent his life protecting human workers in a valley ruled by an alien empire that values law over mercy. When a routine harvest turns fatal, Bayn is forced to confront the failure of his role as an ideal guardian—and the quiet, unresolved weight of those he could not protect. A tale of conflicting priorities—duty and doubt, faith and suspicion, obedience and conscience. The empire demands loyalty. The valley demands blood. Blending immersive science fiction with raw psychological depth, this novel explores power, belief, and responsibility in a world where heroism is both burden and lie—and where staying alive may be easier than living with what survival costs.
