The author, Vivienne Sands, is a pianist, composer and translator with a background in secondary school teaching and has a long-running private music teaching practice. She is a graduate of Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand, studied in the UK and Italy, assisted by a university scholarship, NZ and Italian government bursaries.
Originally from Dunedin, New Zealand, Vera Moore acquired an international reputation as a concert pianist between 1920 and 1930.
