Chikako Patterson was born in Okinawa, Japan and studied in Vancouver, Canada.
Growing up, she has fond memories of playing in the beautiful blue ocean.
Hearing about the latest reports on ocean ecology and how marine animals are negatively affected and love of the ocean inspired her to write this story.
The author wants to give voices to marine animals who can't speak for themselves.
